Film Screening

Film played a vital role in celebrating and amplifying community voices within the project.

As part of the programme at The Welfare Hall, filmmaker Ryan Evans Media led workshops along with Screen Alliance Wales in digital storytelling.  Together, they documented a series of interviews and crafted a 30 minute documentary with the young people that reflected lived experiences of activism, labour, and life in the coalfield.

The film was showcased in dedicated screenings—bringing together creators, contributors, and wider audiences to reflect on the narratives captured throughout the project.  The events offered an opportunity for the community to view highlights from the films produced, fostering a shared space for remembrance, discussion, and celebration of the creative work that emerged from the project.  The full length interviews can be viewed here and are also available at The South Wales Miners Library.
